there’s this person who comes out and visits at my work. she’s in her 80’s, perhaps older. she and her dog hang out for a few hours a week, and provide another set of eyes and opinions about our work.  that’s the pretext at least.  everyone involved knows that it’s mostly to help her get out more and be among people, as she lives alone.  she’s a pretty rad...

Basalt columns are formed when molten magma cools extremely slowly.  Because of the atomic shape of the molten basalt, they cool into mostly hexagonal shapes. this engraving is of the Giant’s Causeway in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, but there are examples of this peterological phenomenon all over the world… including Mount Tom in Easthampton, Ma.
